The Phantom Menace is the first episode of Season 10 on FOX drama soap Beverly Hills, 90210.

Synopsis

FRIENDS SUPPORT KELLY IN THE WAKE OF THE SHOOTING – The gang consoles Kelly as she faces the legal consequences of the shooting and tries to come to terms with her experience. Janet asks Steve for her space while she struggles with a secret that will change both of their lives. Gina gets her fifteen minutes of fame, and as a result is told to relocate by Donna; Dylan also finds himself without a home, thanks to David.

Plot

Joe dies of gunshot wounds. Kelly is arrested and held overnight until the shooting is ruled a justifiable homicide. The police consider charging her with possession of an unlicensed firearm, but Matt appeals to the department's sense of decency. David asks Dylan to move out. Dylan takes up residence at a hotel, and Gina joins him after Donna boots her out for talking to reporters about Kelly. Wayne annoys Donna with his cavalier attitude, particularly when he fails to show sensitivity toward Kelly. She realizes that they do not have a future together. Noah ignores Donna and fools around with one of his employees. Janet's erratic behavior confuses Steve. She secretly applies for a job with another newspaper, and tells Steve that she isn't sure if their relationship will work out. Janet confesses to Kelly that she is four months pregnant.

Trivia

• When Dylan moves into the Beverly Royale, he converses with a bellhop, Hector, that was working there when Dylan lived there in high school and remembers both him and his father, Jack. Hector then asks Dylan how Jack is doing these days. If Hector has been in the area since at least Dylan's high school days and was acquainted with the McKays, he should know that Jack McKay was murdered, since his death was all over the news.
