Camping Trip is the 7th episode of Season 2 of Beverly Hills, 90210.

Synopsis[]

Rain on the kids' Yosemite parade strands the gang of seven next to newlyweds who teach - and learn - some things about love, marriage, divorce and communication.

Plot[]

The gang takes off with plans to spend the weekend camping at Yosemite Park. However, their plans are derailed by the weather. A sudden monsoon hits, and the kids are sidelined in a small town. The gang is forced to stay at a cheap campground, which is booked up due to everyone spending Labor Day weekend vacationing. Brandon is able to rent the last vacant cabin, only to see it is dilapidated. On top of that, the gang cannot get firewood as the campground's wood reserves were waterlogged by the storm. Everyone quickly begins to get on each other's nerves, particularly David, who criticizes the girls for lollygagging whereas if everyone left as scheduled, they could have made it to Yosemite before the highway patrol closed the expressway. Steve decides to liven up the mood by getting beer and asks David to come into town with him. At a liquor store, Steve tells David he was able to convince an elderly couple to buy beer for them by saying they could keep the change from a $50 bill. David and Steve shoot the breeze while waiting for this, only they see the couple then leave the store acting as if they never even interacted with Steve, driving away with Steve's cash. A defeated Steve returns to the campground, which culminates into the group having an argument about how they are treated as second class citizens for being teenagers, though Donna expresses agreement for the alcohol control laws, rightfully thinking if they were binge drinking it may have become something they would later regret.

Dylan storms out following a fight with Brenda. Brandon goes out to look for Dylan; where he finds him sitting on a rock face admiring the view. Dylan confesses that he had been drinking, and shows Brandon tiny "airplane bottles" of liquor that he used to take shots. Brandon slips and falls, dangling from the cliff by only one hand. Dylan saves him from falling off the cliff, and tells Brandon he can thank him by keeping the incident to themselves. The two return to the cabin as soon it will be time to return home, with Dylan trying to mend fences with Brenda.
