Bobby visits California, as he considers transferring to UCLA. He is a paraplegic, the result of a skiing accident three years earlier after Brandon dared him to take a jump. He states that there is no chance that he would regain the ability to walk. Bobby and Kelly Taylor develop a mutual attraction, and while Bobby enjoyed her company at first, he soon began to think that he could never make Kelly happy and pushed her away. Bobby realizes it's best if they simply stay friends. Brandon confesses his guilt about the accident to Bobby, who insists that Brandon should not blame himself.
