Adrianna Tate-Duncan, played by Jessica Lowndes, is a character introduced in the fourth series of the Beverly Hills, 90210 continuity.

[edit] Introduction (S1)
Adrianna, a student of West Beverly Hills High School, was introduced as a brooding aspiring actress/singer. One of her primary motivations is to help support her home—consisting of herself and her mother Constance—through the gigs she occasionally wins. However, she is sometimes left feeling as though Constance exploits her success. Early on in the series, she was revealed to be secretly doing drugs while attempting to balance school life with her acting pursuits.

Eventually, Adrianna's habits came to cause problems with her school activities, which led to her being dropped from a school play in favor of Annie Wilson. Angered, she lashed out later by creating the illusion that she'd had sex with Annie's boyfriend Ty Collins.
Annie was later asked by a teacher to help Adrianna with school work, and reluctantly agreed. The two girls later attended a fashion show that Annie's mom had helped produce, where they met a film producer who recognized Annie from the play. After accepting an offer to read for the small film, Annie introduced the producer to Adrianna, who was then given the same opportunity. Afterwards, a grateful Adrianna expressed her appreciation to Annie, and revealed that she'd staged the incident with Ty. A resentful Annie then walked away from Adrianna, later speaking with Ty and rebuilding a friendship with him.
When police officers searched West Beverly for drugs, Adrianna quickly panicked while fearing the many personal and professional consequences. Her friend Naomi chose to intervene by taking the drugs from Adrianna's possession. This led to Naomi being arrested and facing a number of charges upon her release. Adrianna eventually agreed to come forth, but later turned back to drugs and overdosed before she could do so. Adrianna was later institutionalized while receiving treatment. She soon discovered that Naomi had become resentful and distant, despite the charges against her being essentially dropped.

Fellow West Beverly student Navid Shirazi approached Adrianna during her isolation, offering his support and friendship. Despite initial reservations on her part, the two became increasingly closer. On the night of the West Beverly homecoming dance, Navid prevented Adrianna from doing drugs. He then admitted that he'd had a romantic interest in her since middle school, and comforted her during a moment in which she'd become shaken. Naomi soon approached Adrianna, revealing that she wanted to give the friendship another chance. The two then hugged, and Navid and Naomi helped Adrianna back to the treatment building.

Navid continued to express interest in Adrianna, and the two spent time together at a sleep-over hosted by Erin Silver. During a moment of privacy, she began making out with him. She then assumed that he wanted to have sex in return for his help in financing her treatments. However, Navid was offended by this assertion, and left the room. Adrianna later caught up with Navid at school and apologized; the two then became a couple.
Adrianna was introduced to Navid's large family when she spent an evening having dinner with them. Beforehand, Navid had expressed a degree of anxiety, believing that his family's tendency for affection and friendliness would prove off-putting. However, Adrianna largely enjoyed the meeting as it transpired. Following this event and others, the pair began to express the value of honesty and openness in their relationship.

Adrianna later expressed her gratitude and admiration toward Brenda Walsh, the play director who'd given her motherly advice prior to her recovery. Along with guidance counselor Kelly Taylor, Brenda attended a celebration organized for Adrianna and others who'd undergone rehabilitation. Soon afterwards, Adrianna and the others discovered that she was pregnant. This quickly caused her to become shaken, but Kelly provided her with comfort and emotional support.
Over the following days, Adrianna revealed the news to several people one by one. Naomi stated that she would stand by her in any decision she made. Navid decided that it was best for their romantic relationship to end, though the two remained friendly. After visiting a clinic, she learned that she was too far along in the pregnancy to have an abortion.

Shortly after they'd both won lead roles in the new school play, Adrianna realized that Ty Collins was the baby's father. After informing Ty, she then faced the issue of telling her mother—but was highly reluctant to do so. During a discussion with Naomi, Adrianna revealed that she'd come to feel distant from and used by her mom, due to the years of acting-related pressure that Constance had placed on her.
Upon recovering from the shock, Ty offered her support and companionship. She also received much compassion and kindness from Ty's mother, Louise, who was present during the first sonogram. While watching her baby's image on the monitor, Adrianna became highly moved, acknowledging that the pregnancy had become all the more real. Soon afterwards, however, she became unsettled when Ty's parents grew too controlling. It was soon revealed that the Collins family wanted to send her out of the country to give birth, with plans to then put the baby up for adoption.
Adrianna and Constance were later paid a surprise visit by Louise. During the discussion, Constance learned of the pregnancy, along with the travel and adoption plans. She then became offended by Louise's assertive nature, and told her to leave, stating that she'd stand by her daughter. Later, Adrianna and Constance discussed their relationship, with the latter becoming more compassionate and stating that things would change while they dealt with the pregnancy together.
Ty and Adrianna grew distant as he became worried about his reputation, though they remained on fairly civil terms. With Navid's help, she then used West Beverly's video system to inform the school of her pregnancy. However, she chose not to reveal the identity of the father.
Soon afterwards, Adrianna and Navid began growing romantically close again, sharing a kiss on Valentine's Day.

After interviewing possible adoptive parents, Adrianna remained hesitant to make a choice. All the while, she chose to let Navid believe that she didn't know who the father was. During a discussion at the Peach Pit, Navid suggested that the two of them raise the child together, citing the mutual love and honesty in their relationship. He then proposed to her, and after a moment of hesitation, a smitten Adrianna accepted.
Navid's parents disapproved of his decision and would not allow Adrianna to move in, though they did acknowledge the nobility of his actions. Eventually, Navid chose to leave home and live with his fiance. Afterwards, Adrianna informed him that she hadn't been completely honest, as she'd known that Ty was the child's father for some time. As Navid became highly upset, particularly upon learning that the dad was someone he knew, Adrianna expressed much regret for withholding the information. After he forgave her, the two again acknowledged their commitment. Following further disapproval from family and friends, however, the couple began to have doubts of their own, and opted to abort the marriage while they continued dating.
[edit] The birth and beyond
At the West Beverly Prom, Adrianna's water broke. After being checked into the hospital, she gave birth to a daughter. Navid and Ty forged a truce at the hospital, when Ty signed a form consenting to the adoption, and commended Navid for his commitment. Brenda Walsh, who'd adopted a "little girl" in China, returned shortly after Adrianna's baby was born. Adrianna was then comforted by Brenda and Navid as she gave the child to the adopted parents, who named the girl Maisie.

[edit] New Beginnings
Adrianna has grown much closer to Silver and Naomi over the summer, whilst they have both been in summer school since Annie busted Naomi's post Prom party. Navid and Adrianna's relationship has been progressing slowly, and while he is ready to take it to the next level, even going as far as to rent a cabana, she isn't, and still wants to wait. Meanwhile, Adrianna runs into her childhood boyfriend, Teddy, causing jealousy in Navid, due to their close relationship and Naomi, who has taken a liking to Teddy. The end of the first episode shows Adrianna and Naomi comforting Silver over her issues with Dixion and beginning their first day back at school, with Naomi proclaiming that this was going to be 'their' year. Adrianna and Teddy kiss on his father's yacht. Adrianna felt bad and went back and slept with Navid. They later kiss again. Adrianna tells him that he shouldn't have done that and walks away.Adrianna and Navid break up .Adrianna receives her 6 month chip for sobriety at a meeting, and has also been in contact with Silver's mom.
